I love comics! Doesn't everybody in some form or another? I didn't grow up on them like a lot of artists who draw them but I fell headlong into them later in life. I had a buddy that owned a pretty sweet comic shop in Marquette, MI years ago when I lived there who turned me on to stuff he liked and I just progressed from there. I find that drawing comics helps me really focus on storytelling because you only have one or two panels to get your point across and they have to tight in a number of ways or the reader flags or misses the point. Drawing comics initially started out for me as an exercise similar to storyboarding but when they started coming out really well and I found out how enjoyable they were to produce I started spending more and more time on them. All in all making all sorts of series, strips, and shorts has become a really wonderful adventure in creation. I guess sometimes we just stumble on it, or in it. Lately Jan Duursema's(pencils and co script) work with John Ostrander(writing) and Dan Parsons(ink) on Star Wars Legacy series has really got my attention. It's very engaging and highly original stuff. I'm a star wars nut anyway so it wasn't a hard sell with me. Check it out. I love the Manga's Stan Lee has been writing as well. I saw a preview of some of it in Shonen Jump and was pretty thrilled by it. I love Manga anyway so again not a tough sell but recommended for all...... All the best to all of you out there! Lots of love and wonderful holiday wishes.
Ciao!
